Silk was born in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Silk is the daughter of Peter who was an academic and Ilkay Silk, a prominent actor, director, producer, writer, teacher, and Director of Drama of Drama at St. Thomas University. Anna is able to recall some of her first memories as a child, including seeing her mother work during play rehearsals. Silk featured in a few commercials in which she appeared when she was young. She completed a Bachelors of Arts from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas was active in at least two of the early stage productions, including Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk began her acting career by moving to Toronto, Canada, in November of 1999. She then moved into Los Angeles for the remainder of the decade. Seth Cooperman was her future spouse when she first was introduced to him at an Actors' Workshop in Los Angeles. When they got engaged in 2008, they married in the year 2009. They renewed their vows April 10th, 2011, in Fredericton in the aftermath of their was converted to Judaism.
